Dana Morris – Plumm Glass Designer
Dana Morris has the perfect pedigree to be the Plumm Glass Designer. Not only has she spent the last 10 years specialising in glassware, but she is proud to say that she is not a wine snob.
Dana’s knowledge of wine, glassware & the industry has come from solid graft and on the job training. So for a brand focused on simplifying wine, for those who love drinking great wine but want to do so in maximum comfort and without the pomp and ceremony traditionally associated with wine, Dana approached her task of designing Plumm from the perfect angle.
Her goal was to create a range of glasses that were practical and also beautiful to look at. She moved from Sydney to Melbourne and then travelled extensively in Europe & Asia to research and design the Plumm brand. In her words “This glassware is designed for living…”
Andrew Pirie – MSc Agr PhD AM
Andrew graduated with MSc Agr and PhD from Dept of Agronomy and Horticultural Science from University of Sydney. His major academic interest has been to study the ecology of fine wine or ‘terroir’, which led him to Tasmania.
In 1974 he and his brother David established Piper’s Brook Vineyard in northern Tasmania…one of the first major plantations of the modern era of viticulture in Tasmania. The Ninth Island label followed in 1994, and Pirie in 1999. He is currently establishing a vineyard at Lebrina, north of Launceston, and consulting to Brown Brothers.
Dr Pirie has received national acclaim for his contributions to the Australian wine industry. In 2001 he was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to the Tasmanian wine and tourism industries.
“I remain passionate about the cool climate wine potential of Tasmania. It is exciting to be involved in an industry which benefits lifestyle, from its modern inception to consolidation.”
